The quest: here, some will surely remember the famous ad “Rip Curl – The Search.” ” A whole state of mind. Of course, in the 90s, some of our spots were already duly listed as masterclass playgrounds given their unrivaled wind stats : Tarifa, of course, but also the Canaries, the Aegean islands, Guincho, Lake Garda, the Straits of Bonifacio, etc.… As for trips, the real ones, it was a bit like rolling dice with the blue planet: sometimes double six, other times double one : from “AA+” to “A-“.
Interview – Pierre Mortefon
At 36, Pierre Mortefon embodies the determination of French windsurfing. PWA Slalom X 2025 and Slalom Foil 2024 world champion, the Montpellier native went through a 2025 season marked by a series of challenges that would have broken many careers. Between a calf injury two days before the Défi Wind, the sudden loss of his equipment sponsor, and a change of sails in the middle of competition, Pierre managed to turn obstacles into opportunities to surpass himself.
